EVELYN A. BARTLOW
Evelyn Ann Bartlow, 94, Kansas City, MO, passed away on January 28, 2014 at Overland Park Nursing and Rehab Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 AM, on February 10th at Unity Church of Overland Park, 103rd & Antioch, Overland Park, KS. Since Evelyn and her family were florists, flowers are welcome; or, being a family of volunteers, we encourage donations to your favorite charities.
Evelyn was born May 10, 1919 in the Presbyterian manse in Drexel, Missouri. She married Charles H. Bartlow in 1940. While he served in the US Navy during WWII, she began working at Bartlow & Son Florist where she worked either full or part-time from 1940-1975 bringing the joy of flowers to many people. Evelyn was a woman of many talents and interests. She was a Girl Scout leader/volunteer for over 50 years. The local council's conservation award is named for her. She was a published writer, a dancer and dance teacher, a Sunday school teacher, a Wornall House docent, a chiropractor's daughter, a seamstress, a world traveler, a Tastee Bread girl, and a person who always had time to help another in any way she could. Evelyn was an active member of Unity church for over 65 years. She was an avid "fisherman" and "set her hook" with great success in many nearby and far away locales.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Charles H. Bartlow Jr. and wife Paulette; her daughter, Cynthia and husband Ed Fern; her sister, Betty Blanchette and sisters-in-law Kathy Kiser and Georgia Stilwell; grandchildren: Mark Bartlow and wife, Rachael; Kirsten Bartlow; Garrett and Spencer Fern; and great-grandchildren Paige, Piper, Eryn, Sophia and Nathan Bartlow.
Many will miss Evelyn; but, being always the positive person, she would assure us that grace abounds and everything is in Divine Order.
