Ethel Mae Chaney,72, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 surrounded by her family at her home.
Funeral Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be from 6 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28th at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation.
Ethel was born July 4, 1936 and grew up in Lenexa, KS. She worked 30 years at Corinth Square Payless Grocery Store as a retail clerk. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post #846. Ethel and her husband were avid campers, she loved to crochet, play cards and work jigsaw and word puzzles. Most of all she loved her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Bessie Rusher; sister, Pauline Loftus; sister-in-law, Rosemary Rusher; daughter, Mary Francis and son, Richard Chaney.
Ethel is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Robert (Bob), of the home and loyal dog Missy; daughter, Sheryl Gulley; son, Bob Chaney, Jr.(Sandy) and Sandy’s children, Tara and Eric; son, Don Chaney (Cathy); grandchildren, Laura, Michelle, Jake and Rachel; brothers, Ralph Rusher, Warren Rusher (Estella), Charles Rusher (Sharon); brother-in-law, Jim Loftus and many loving nieces, nephews and numerous other family and friends.
