Erwin Roesler

Erwin David Roesler, 84, passed away on July 14, 2010. Erwin was born in Beaufort, Missouri, on May 24, 1926, and was raised with his 11 siblings in the St. Louis area. He joined the U.S. Navy, serving honorably on the USS Vella Gulf in the Pacific during World War II. He was married to the late Mary Kathleen Addis on February 14, 1949. He worked as a master carpenter before earning his degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He was a quality control officer for architectural and construction companies. Firms he worked for included HOK, Dickey Construction, Linclay Corp. and J.E. Dunn Construction. After the passing of his wife in 1983, he moved to Kansas City where he met and married Mary Gibbs Royer.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, and his children Patricia Baehr and her husband Randy; David Roesler and his wife Sara; Pamela Thompson and her husband Jim; as well as four siblings. He is also loved by his stepchildren: Robert Royer and his wife Anne; Doug Royer and his wife, Erin; and the late Anita Royer Paulson. He will be dearly remembered by his 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery on Monday, July 19, 2010, at 11 a.m. A reception will be held at The Forum, 3501 W. 95th Street, Overland Park, Kansas, on Monday, July 19, 2010, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
