Elizabeth Denny, 97, of Prairie Village, KS passed away April 12, 2007 at Somerset Health Center. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 16, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial in Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061.
Mrs. Denny was born December 6, 1909 and reared near Green Ridge, MO. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO and graduated from Central Missouri University, Warrensburg, MO with a B.S. in education. Following her graduation, she taught school in Ovid, CO and Sweet Springs, MO. She was a co-founder and co-owner of the Brookside Day School in Kansas City, MO for twenty-one years before she retired in 1975. In 1936 she was married to Lisle O. Denny. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 1, 1996. Lisle preceded her in death in 2001. She was a member of the Village Presbyterian Church since 1951.
Survivors include two children, daughter, Joanne Cantril and husband, Jack; son, Larry Denny; two grandchildren, David Cantril and wife Barbara, Debbie Clark and husband Alex; six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
