Elaine A. Darnall, 75 of Prairie Village, KS passed away Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Memorial services will be at 2pm on Tuesday, July 10th at St. Andrew?s Episcopal Church, 6401 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64113. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Elaine Auffenberg Darnall (formerly Hickok) was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Glenna and Tom Auffenberg. She spent her childhood in Joplin, Missouri. She received her bachelor?s degree from the University of Missouri, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. After graduating, she taught school in Johnson County. Elaine married William Hickok and they had two children, Anne Dible and Timothy William Hickok. In 1990, Elaine married Rex Darnall. In later years, Elaine was an active real estate agent for 25 years. She was a member of The Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri, Children?s Relief Association and Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae. Survivors include: her husband Rex; her children Anne McCartney and Tim Hickok; her two brothers Dr. Jack Sanders and Dr. Thomas Auffenberg; her grandchildren Lora, Jane, and Jack Hawkins, James and Anna Hickok; step-children Jeanie and Stewart Darnall; and step-grandchildren Sandee, Jay and Tom Darnall.
