Edwin Stevens

Edwin L Stevens, age 79, of Overland Park, KS passed away September 7, 2014 at the Kansas City Hospice House.  He was born July 21, 1935 to Melbourne and Bessie (Hamilton) Stevens in Kansas City, KS.  He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Brumley on October 18, 1957.  Ed worked for the KC Star at the age of 15 and continued there until retiring after over 40 years of service.  He was a Mason, 32nd degree Shriner, and a member of Nall Avenue Baptist Church.  He is survived by his wife; Shirley of the home, 3 children;  Edwin, (Debbie) Stevens, Jr. of Omaha, NE, Cheri Stevens of Shawnee, KS, and Randall (Janet) Stevens of Shawnee, KS; a brother Charles (Eileen) Stevens of Lincoln, NE, seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Melva Walters.
A visitation will be held Thursday, September 11, from 6-8 PM at Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas.  Funeral services will be Friday, September 12 at 1PM at Nall Avenue Baptist Church located at 6701 Nall Ave., Prairie Village, Kansas.  Interment will be immediately following at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens located at KS Hwy 7 & 75th Street.
