Edna “Sue” Hight, 73, passed away Friday, December 11, 2009. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at St. Agnes Catholic Church; burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Kansas Right to Life or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Sue was born March 26, 1936 in Cherryvale, KS to Chester and Martha Byram. She graduated from Cherryale High School. Sue met and later married Ed Hight in 1955, he preceded her in death November 4, 2008. Sue faithfully attended morning mass at St. Agnes and was a member of the Hourly Devotion. She worked several different jobs, but was primarily a homemaker. Sue enjoyed traveling and playing golf with her husband. Her greatest enjoyment in life was her family and being involved with her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives. Survivors include her three children: Susan (Garon) Gardner, Cathy McDermott, and Dr. Ed Hight; one brother, Keith (Judy) Byram; grandchildren: Capt. Nathan (Misty), Aaron (Halley),and Isaac Gardner; Eddie, Eric, and Jesse Hight; great grandchildren: Bridgette, Michael, Kaitlin, Caleb, and Braydon.
