Edna was born May 12, 1915 in Golden, OK to J. L. and Nancy M. Merry. Due to Nancy’s declining health, Edna was raised by Ida and Willis Hungate in Mena, AR. Edna moved to Oklahoma City in 1936 to attend Blackwood Business College. Edna resided at the Y.W.C.A. where she created friendships that lasted until recently when age started taking its toll. She married Milton Gimlin in 1938. Canasta parties and raising children filled her days. They moved to Worthington, OH in 1962 and at the age of 50, Edna received her real estate license and had a successful career. This is also when she discovered her passion for playing Bridge and hosting Mai Tai parties. Edna and Milton moved to Prairie Village in 1970. She continued in real estate for the next 20 years winning many top saleperson awards. Edna was very actively involved with the lives of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed many hobbies that included dancing, Bingo, baking for her family, and giving tea parties for her great granddaughters. As her health started to decline, she made a conscious decision to enjoy and be grateful for each day, counting each as a blessing. Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Milton Gimlin; sister, Ida Whitfield; brother, Woodrow Merry. Survivors include her children: Elizabeth Dicks, Gregg (Terri) Gimlin; grandchildren: Cathy Murphy, Robert and Charles Dicks, Brenda James, and Michael Gimlin; great grandchildren: Kirstin, Katie, Kelly James, Luke Murphy, Collin and Mason Dicks; and two nieces: Judy Brough and Elma Mae Severn.
