DOROTHY LEE (REEDY) McKINNELL
It is with great sorrow and hope that Marcie, Marty, and Mark McKinnell, bid farewell and ever lasting peace to their Mother, Dorothy, Lee (Reedy) McKinnell. Our Mom found eternal peace on 10/11/2011 @ 0700. She was at home in the presence of those who love her. Dorothy was one who sacrificed without complaint, so that her children and their pets never went without. Working two, sometimes, three jobs, Mom never complained. The three M's were her life. Her primary goals were that her children met every challenge without fear, that from failure comes strength and from success comes humility. She spent her life instilling hopefulness in all who crossed her path often at her own expense. All the while, her hair was perfect! As Moms' health failed she was blessed with the presence of caregivers representing Good Shepherd Hospice. Most importantly, Holly A. Bible, LPN, whose dedication and compassion to her patients is without measure. Ms. Bible led a team including Karen Fine HHA, Jill Recker MSW, Chaplain Mary Linda McDonald and Nial Castle DO. These people are "Hospice" in its truest form! The aforementioned saw Mom as much more than just another name on a list of many patients. She was seen as a human being, a personality and a friend. Mom was not someone who was dying, but a sprit full of life who deserved to be heard. She was encouraged to share her fears, her love's, her failures and regrets to people who were not afraid to listen without judgment. She was someone who mattered to this hospice team. Without the hospice caregivers, Dorothy and her family would have missed the opportunity to come to terms with a sad reality. Dorothy L. Mckinnell will be missed by many and forgotten by few! Services for Dorothy will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Good Shepherd Hospice 7611 State Line Rd., KC, MO 64114.
