Dorothy Ellen Tipton was born in Carrollton, Missouri on November 28, 1927. She was raised by her grandmother, Jody, who taught her to be a strong, independent woman. Dorothy married David R. Fleming in 1948. Together they raised two sons, empowering them with the same strength and independence she was taught as a child. Dorothy devoted her entire adult life to her family. She also had a passion for coats, jewelry, estate sales, and the color pink.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her grandmother Ollie Belle [Jody] Fletcher, her mother Eunice Alberta White, and the love of her life and husband of 58 years, David R. Fleming. She is survived by sons Michael Fleming of Fairway, Kansas, Douglas Fleming and his wife Sheila of Richmond, Virginia, and two granddaughters Meredith and Allyson Fleming, both of Richmond, Virginia. Dorothy is also survived by special friends Shad Foos and Donna Osborn who she loved as family, as well as Jeannine Hays and the amazing staff and residents of Comfort Care Homes who cared for her like family.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association Heart of America Chapter, or Odyssey Hospice.
