Doris Lynn Clarke of Shawnee, Kansas passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at the Kansas City Hospice House, after a long illness. Doris was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. She was a graduate of Bishop Miege High School, Shawnee Mission, Kansas and Avila University, Kansas City, Missouri.
Doris was the daughter of the late Clifford P. and Evelyn M. Johnston. She is survived by her sister, Debra Petree of St. Louis, MO; her beloved aunt for whom she was named, Doris Gonzales of Bridgewater, NJ; lifelong friends, Gail, Sue, Maggie, Judy Tami, Denise and Mo, as well as numerous other relatives, friends and colleagues.
Before her retirement in 2001, Doris served as the Vice President and Comptroller of First Excess and Reinsurance Corporation in Overland Park, Kansas.
Doris?s lifelong passion was the collection and study of gems and fine jewelry. In January 2004 she completed the Gemological Institute of America?s Graduate Gemologist Program.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, March 26, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. The family will greet friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M., prior to the service.
