Concordia Ostermann

Concordia Martha Ostermann, age 94 of Prairie Village, KS., passed away on September 30, 2010.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 4 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. with a memorial service on Tuesday, October 5 at 11:00 am, both at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 4153 Rainbow Blvd, KCK.
Concordia was born on April 2, 1916 in Sylvan Grove, KS., the daughter of John and Lilly Mueller Runge. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church by Rev. F A Mehl.
She attended college at St. Johns in Winfield, KS., and the Teachers College in Warrensburg, MO.,before graduating with a degree in Education with the last graduating class of the University of KC (now UMKC).
Corde taught in a one room school house and then went to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior to teach school for over 20 years. She conducted the children’s choir and played the organ. She loved music and after retiring taught piano lessons for many years. Her love of music was passed on to her children and grandchildren.
She loved nature, music and her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerdes L. “Bud” Ostermann on August 21, 1989.
She is survived by her son John and wife Althea Ostermann of Valley Falls, KS., daughter Marsha and husband Dr. Ralph Mingle of Prairie Village, KS., daughter Kathleen and husband Mike Beckloff of Leawood, KS., daughter Sharon Ostermann of Prairie Village, KS., and son Thomas and wife Pam Ostermann of Olathe, KS.,
She was blessed and proud of her 8 grandchildren. Matthew, Laura, Sarah, Jessica (husband Joey Schnieder), Katherine, Kaitlin, Kristopher, and Jonathan. She is also survived by her two sister in laws, Doris Hillmer and Loubelle Meyer both of Sylvan Grove, KS.
