Claude D. "Bud" Wyrick age 88, passed away on April 3, 2012. He had lived in Overland Park, KS since 1954. Bud was born to the late Claude and Lillian Wyrick, near Alma, MO, August 15, 1923. He graduated from Joplin, MO high school in May 1941. He went to work for Armour & Co. in Joplin that summer. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on Dec. 8, 1942. He was the Squadron Sgt. Major when he was discharged February 14, 1946. Bud loved flying and was a private pilot. He was a member of pilot organizations, AOPA, Kansas Pilots Assn., & Commemorative Air Force.
He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church since 1955. He served on many committees, was an Asst. Sunday School Sup't, and helped sponsor the Sr. High and Jr. High MYF. He was a member of Overland Trail Blazers since 1991.
He worked for Armour & Co. in KCK as By-Products Dept. Mgr. until Armour closed in 1964. He then worked as a manager for Bruce Milling Co., KCK, for 22 years. Bud retired August 15, 1986.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife of 46 years, Midge Foster Wyrick. He is survived by his wife, Olive Nugent Wyrick, daughter, Sue (Don) Larkin, Phoenix, AZ, son, Ted Wyrick, Overland Park, three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, brothers, Ed (Lois) and Jim, sister, Beverly Jones, many nieces and nephews, also stepson, Les (Danelle) Nugent, stepdaughter, Karen Nugent, five step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 11:00am at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 6422 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS 66202 with visitation at 10:00am in the church parlor. Burial will be private. The family suggests contributions to St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
