Clara Mae Mitchell, daughter of Warren H. and Mabel (Starner) Woods, was born May 31, 1930. She passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Trinity Rehabilitation Nursing Center in Merriam, Kansas at the age of 85.
Clara graduated from Lamoni High School in Lamoni, Iowa in 1948. She was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Clara was married to Leland W. Mitchell in Lamoni on September 12, 1948. They moved to Fresno, California in 1949. With their two children, they returned to the Midwest in 1958.
Clara loved her flowers, walking outside barefoot, travel, her family and friends. She had a creative nature and always maintained a beautiful and welcoming home. She was a very special loving, happy woman that everyone loved.
Preceding her death were: her husband; parents; sister, Marilyn Smith; and a grandson, Tyrel Smith. She is survived by: her daughter, Cynthia Smith of Fertile, MN; son, James Mitchell of Kansas City, KS; two granddaughters, Jacque (Jim) Flynn of Fertile, MN, and Katie (Nick) Cardinal of Crookston, MN; brother, Don Woods of Gold Beach, Oregon; 11 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and close relatives and friends. She especially adored Tess, a beautiful English Springer spaniel that helped care for her later in life.
