CHARLES JAMES (CHUCK) JONES
Charles James (Chuck) Jones, 81, of Overland Park, KS passed away April 22, 2011 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
Charles was born January 7, 1930 to Charles H. and Lois Jones in Hominy, Oklahoma. His father worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and consequently transferred frequently, so Charles attended schools in South Dakota, North Dakota, Illinois, and Montana. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington. He served 5 years in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Charles worked for The Boeing Co. in Seattle, WA. Then he moved to Kansas City where he worked for TWA, Clay Bailey, the IRS, and the U.S. Postal Service as a safety specialist. He married Jane Bucher Jones in 1972. He was a 32-degree mason and a member of the Unity Church on the Plaza.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, one sister Ruth Gildersleeve, of Waldport, Oregon, a niece, Debbie Powell of Seattle, Washington, and two nephews, Jim Gildersleeve of Waldport, Oregon, and Rick Gildersleeve of St. Helen’s, Oregon.
