Charles Francis Hoskins, a resident of Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community in Raleigh, North Carolina, died May 2, 2007. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf; burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Charles, the son of Charles and Jettie Lou Hoskins, was born December 13, 1918, in Fort Worth, TX. He graduated from Handley High School in 1937. Charles married Margaret Helen Fish in March of 1942. He was a member of Roeland Park United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was honored this year as a 50 year member of the Old Mission Scottish Rite. Charles served as a pilot in WWII and continued to fly in the Air Force Reserve until he retired as a major in 1965. He worked as a plant manager for the PennCentral Co. in Shawnee Mission, Kansas until 1980. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Hoskins.
Charles has two sons, Charles Lee Hoskins who is missing-in-action in Laos since 1971, and Ronald Dean Hoskins. He is survived by his son, Ron and wife Susan of Raleigh, NC; Charles Lee?s wife, Kathy Hoskins of Plano, TX; three grandchildren, Heather Henry, Hilary Villareal, and Chad Hoskins and three great-grandchildren.
