Catherine Hrones, 86, of Roeland Park, Kansas passed away Sunday, April 1, 2007, at her home. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church, 8100 West 95th Street, Overland Park, Kansas. Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas. Visitation will be 5:00 ? 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 3, at DW Newcomer?s Sons, Overland Park, Chapel, 8201 Metcalf with Trisagion Service at 6:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Dionysios Church Memorial Fund, 8100 West 95th St., Overland Park, Kansas 66212.
Catherine was born May 12, 1920 in Kansas City, Kansas. She married James T. Hrones on April 27, 1947. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1938. Catherine was employed by the First State Bank of Kansas City for 41 Years. She was a member of the St. Dionysios Philoptochos Society and Ladies Club. Catherine was known as a wonderful cook and was very active in the annual Grecian Festival. The light of her life was her grandson, Gregory Otey. She leaves a legacy of faith and love to all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her son, Tom Hrones and grandson, Grant Otey.
Catherine is survived by her husband of 60 years, James T. Hrones of Roeland Park, Kansas; daughter, Karen Otey and grandson, Gregory Otey of Overland Park, Kansas; sister, Nikki Pappas and husband, William Pappas; brother, Dr. Paul Gatzoulis and wife, Agnes; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
