Carroll C Moore peacefully passed away on February 10, 2012. He was born June 17, 1920 in Del Rio, TX to the late Dewey E Moore and Willa F Saylor Moore. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Doris L Moore. He was preceded in death by his sister Louise Moore Chaffee. Carroll attended UMKC, MIT and Harvard. He graduated with degrees in chemistry and mathematics. He began his career as a chemist for US Rubber Co in NYC and retired from Lord Corp in Erie, PA after 28 yrs as a mechanical engineer. Carroll served his country during WWII in Japan as Lt. in the US Navy.
After retirement he enjoyed traveling with his family (visiting 49 states and various countries) and leading a Mutual Funds Group. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading, opera, classical music, volleyball, photography, Nat'l Parks and being with family. One of his greatest victories was conquering Longs Peak in CO. Hiking was a passion he enjoyed sharing with others. Carroll will be deeply missed.
He is survived by 5 daughters, Martha Baker of PA, Barbara Gresh (Michael) of OK, Maria Mischler (Mark) of PA, Peggie Thompson (Brent) of KS, Paula Shanahan of MO, 11 adoring grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, wonderful brother-in-law Myron E Chaffee,
nieces, nephews and friends who all dearly loved him.
Visitation will be from 11-12 Monday, February 13, 2012 at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel followed by a service at noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his honor to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd, KCMO 64145.
