Carolyn E. White, 91, of Overland Park, KS, quietly passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
Carolyn was born on September 1, 1932, in Coffeen, Illinois. She retired from Penn Valley Community College where she worked in the business office for many years. She lived in Overland Park for 59 years and raised two daughters. She loved dogs and was a devoted Young and the Restless fan. She was known for her strength and for her loyalty to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Owen Smith and Oleva Dell Smith; her sister, Jane DeSart and brother-in-law, Louie DeSart; and son-in-law, Steve Richardson. She is survived by her daughters: Cathy D. White, of Overland Park, KS and Jana C. Richardson, Topeka, KS; nephews: Mel DeSart and his wife Faye Christenberry and Zane DeSart; and great nephews: Zack and Nick DeSart.
Carolyn will be greatly missed by her friends and family. The family wishes to express their thanks to St. Luke’s Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospice House. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to the hospice house of your choice, Kansas City Public Television, Shawnee Mission School District, or Johnson County Kansas Parks and Recreation for maintenance of the swimming pools.
