DeAnn Johnston Moore 77 of Mission Hills Kansas Passed away on January 17th due to complications with Alzheimer’s disease at Brighton Gardens in Prairie Village Kansas.
She was Born on May 20th, 1939 in Kansas City Missouri. Her parents were Dorothy Schanze and Delbert Canote. She was Married to N.K. “Sam” Moore of Holton Kansas on April 23rd, 1960 at the Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village Kansas.
DeAnn was a graduate of Shawnee Mission (North) High School class of 1957 and attended Kansas State University (KSU) where she met Her husband Sam. Along with being a loving home maker DeAnn worked part time at the Jones Store Company in Prairie Village Kansas where she worked as a buyer earlier in her life. When Sam opened his own Real Estate brokerage, Sam Moore and Company Realtors, deAnn supervised the daily management of the business. After Sam’s merger with JD Reece, DeAnn obtained her Real Estate license and began working as an agent for JD Reece at the time.
DeAnn Was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority and served as Queen of Engineers and IPC Queen while a student KSU. Served as a Deacon for the Village Church and a member of the Kansas City Art Institute Paletteers support organization. She was a member of the KSU President’s Club, Ahearn Club, Land Grant Society and served on the KSU Foundation Board of Trustees with Sam.
DeAnn was noted for her wonderful personality and always made close acquaintances and strangers feel happy and comfortable in her presence. She was a very caring, lovable wife and mother and supported Sam in many endeavors. She enjoyed traveling the world, attending KSU activities and participating in family fishing trips and events. Her family was the light of her life and she made every holiday and birthday occasion special.
DeAnn is survived by Sam, her husband of 57 years. Sons: David J. Moore of Prairie Village Ks. and Derek E. Moore of Roeland Park Ks. Sisters: Elaine (Johnston) Price, Lynda (Johnston) Flanders of Overland park Ks., and Donna (Canote) Gillispie of Kimberling City Mo.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s society, Paralyzed Veterans or Wayside Waifs.
