Caroline Bliss Langknecht, of Lakeview Village in Lenexa, died on Monday, April 13, 2009. She was 94 years old. A lifelong resident of the Kansas City area, she was born on November 18, 1914 to Marguerite Stone Bliss and Byron G. Bliss. She was a graduate of Sunset Hill and attended the University of Kansas, where she became a member of Pi Beta Phi. In 1940 she married Carl H. Langknecht, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1989. Carrie, as she was known by her many friends, lived an active life in Kansas City. She was active in the Junior League, and an avid tennis player who continued to play into her 9th decade. She was a long time member of The Village Church and volunteered for some years in the cerebral palsy nursery there. Carrie especially cherished the time she and her family spent at her summer home at Epworth Heights in Ludington, Michigan. She spent every summer there from the age of six, and was a greatly beloved part of that community. Carrie was happiest when in the company of her friends, and throughout her life she shared her ready smile and infectious laugh with many. In recent years she loved to socialize with her neighbors at Lakeview Village where she was residing when she passed away. She is survived by her three children, Judy LaVaute of Ludington, Michigan, John M Langknecht of Manassas, Virginia, and Jim Langknecht of Los Angeles, California, as well as eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grand- children.
