Mrs. Carol Benson

April 2, 1946 — May 11, 2008

Carol Fedrigon Benson, age 62, died on Mother's Day, May 11, 2008, in Overland Park, KS. The daughter of Peter Paul Fedrigon and Rose Marie Zanolini. She was born in Batavia, NY on April 2, 1946, and spent her childhood in Oakfield, NY. She graduated from Oakfield-Alabama High School and went on to earn her business degree from the Bryant and Stratton Business Institute in Rochester, NY. She married her husband of 32 years, Jim Benson, in Rochester, NY on February 14, 1976. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Tracie and Jamie, her sisters, Rosemary Fedrigon Hall, Alice Fedrigon, Diana Fedrigon and brother Peter Fedrigon, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Baptized Catholic, Carol was deeply religious throughout her life. A strong woman, she used her wit, humor and talent to inspire the best in those around her. She had a very creative mind and was a well known watercolor artist for many years while she resided in Indialantic and Palm Bay, FL. Inspired by her teacher, M. Douglas Walton, she attended many art shows winning numerous awards in Vero Beach and the surrounding area and was an active member of the Melbourne Artist Forum, the Strawbridge Art Club and the Vero Beach Art Club. In 1997, she and her family relocated from Deerfield Beach, FL to Overland Park, KS where she began creating her own jewelry using wire wrapping techniques and natural gemstones to fashion beautiful art pieces. Coupled with her artistic talent, Carol had a generous heart, always thinking of others above and beyond herself. Beloved by all, she will be greatly missed. Condolences can be sent to: Jim Benson, 7700 Newton Street, Overland Park, KS 66204 or to www.dwnewcomers.com.
