Bruce Francis Burdick, age 70, of Lenexa, KS passed away on the 29th of December, 2009 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. A visitation with family and friends will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Overland Park Lutheran Church (OPLC) followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions (in lieu of flowers, please) may be made in Bruce’s name to OPLC and can be sent to the church (7810 W. 79th St., Overland Park, KS 66204). Mr. Burdick was born on October 11, 1939 in Shenandoah, IA. He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Mary Burdick, his four children (Bryan, Bryce, Heather and Branden) and their spouses (Nancy, Rick and Alexis), his ten grandchildren (Conner, Mercedes, Hunter, Tyra, Kendall, Hannah, Noah, Bryce, Adya and Clara), and a host of friends and extended family. Mr. Burdick was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps in August of 1966. Professionally, Mr. Burdick was a serial entrepreneur with successful businesses that included worm farming, a ComputerLand franchise, a sports bar, real estate, and a health food store…just to name a few. Among other awards and recognitions, Bruce was honored as the Small Business Man of the Year for the state of Kansas in 1985. He dedicated his life to his family and was a man of profound faith.
