Bobby Lee Webster, 77, of Leawood, Kan., passed away on Wed., Oct. 29, 2009. Services will be held at the Leawood Baptist Church at 83rd and State Line Rd. Visitation from 1 to 2 pm. Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Services will be immediately following the visitation. Bob was born Nov. 2, 1931, in Wendall, Id. His grew up in Jerome, Id. working on his dad’s farm. He was an entrepreneur in high school and owned a hobby shop. Working with the model airplanes spurred his interest in flying. He attended college at the Univ. of Idaho where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and the ROTC program. Upon graduation, Bob became an officer in the U.S. Air Force. It was in the service that he learned to fly, a passion that lasted his lifetime.
Bob later turned his passion into a career when he went to work for Trans World Airlines. He worked there for 31 years and often said, “It was the best job anyone could ever have. I loved every minute of it.”
Throughout Bob’s life, he was active in many service organizations and clubs including the Shrine, Flying Fez , Masons, Rotary, Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of the Confederate Veterans, Quiet Birdmen.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jacqueline; son, David; daughter, Julia; sister, Adelaide Gerard and two brothers, Fred and Dean Webster.
He will always be remembered by those close to him as a warm and passionate soul, who took tremendous joy in being in the company of others and whose generosity seemed to know no limit.
