Billie Ann Hauber died Thursday January 28th. Loving wife and mother of two very loving children, Billie was surrounded by family and friends. She was active in her church, Holy Trinity and later Holy Cross and was a founding organizer of the Women’s Crusillo Movement of Kansas. She volunteered for many other organizations throughout her life with a particular focus on those that helped people with special needs. She was a long time member of the ARCare Board and for over 20 years Billie volunteered at Sacks on Sante Fe for the benefit of local special-needs individuals. She loved to read, and shared this with both her children and many others by organizing Great Books classes at Holy Trinity School and for years taught english to newly arriving immigrants.Born in 1935 in Savannah Missouri, she became a Registered Nurse before marrying in 1957. Among her friends she was known for her empathy, commitment to justice and her very wry sense of humor.Billie is survived by her husband of over 53 years, Richard Hauber, sons Charles Hauber (Olathe, KS), Richard John Hauber and his partner Stephen Ward (Chicago, IL), brother Tom Dorrell (Valencia, CA), step-brothers Richard Lamb (Eustace TX), and Mike Lamb (Triangle VA) and step-sister Nancy Metcalfe (Lady Lake , FL).Visitation will be held Sunday, January 31st between 5-7p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. and Funeral Services will be held the following day, Monday, February 1st at 10am both at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 8311 W 93rd Street, Overland Park.
