Billie Davis, 90, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at the Kingswood Senior Living Community in Kansas City, Mo. She was born January 12, 1920, to Averil Earl and Frances Riley Jarboe in Cameron, Mo. She was a graduate of Cameron High School and the University of Kansas. Billie was married to Raymond Fletcher Davis, who preceded her in death in 2008. They were constant companions for 65 years.
Billie was one of the first two female cheerleaders at KU and her original sweater can be seen at the new Allen Field House. She was an active alumna of the Chi Omega of Kansas chapter and a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 55 years. Billie’s favorite enjoyments were dancing, swimming, traveling and playing bridge. She lived a very active life and enjoyed entertaining and socializing with friends across the United States. Survivors include her children, Larry Jarboe Davis, James Fletcher (Jeff) Davis, and Debbie Davis LeGrotte. There are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation 11 a.m. to noon, and the funeral service at noon on Saturday, April 24, at the Country Club United Methodist Church at 400 W. 57th St., Kansas City, MO 64113. Private graveside services will be at Forest Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Country Club United Methodist Church.
