Beverly Jean (Hand) Capper, 75, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on March 26, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with chronic illness.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Daisy Hand and her sister, Margaret McAllister, all of Shawnee Mission, Kansas.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 55 years, Bob; daughter, Robin Moore and husband, Rob of Houston, Texas; daughter, Vicki Kelm and husband, Roger of Surrey, British Columbia and son, Jim Capper and wife, Patty of Kansas City, Missouri. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Lindsay Webdell, Kevin Kelm, Bobby Moore, Lisa Kelm, Alex Moore, Becky Muckenthaler, Amy Muckenthaler and Blaze Capper, her niece, Ellen McIntyre and nephew, Doug McAllister. She will also be deeply missed by numerous great-nieces and nephews as well as many life long friends.
Beverly was born in Kansas City, Wyandotte County, Kansas on January 19, 1932 to Clarence and Daisy Anson Hand. She graduated from Shawnee Mission (North) High School in 19-50. She married Robert James Capper on November 17, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mission, Kansas.
Beverly was a talented seamstress, working early in her career as a personal tailor for Russell Stover of Russell Stover Candies. She also was a branch manager for Globe Life Insurance where she retired from in 1991.
Beverly was active in the Overland Park Elks? Lodge, devoting much of her time to raising money for disabled children. She received many awards for her involvement. She was voted Kansas Elk Lady of the Year 1997, Kansas Veteran Volunteer 1997-1998 and Overland Park Lady of the Year 2006-2007.
The family will receive visitors at D. W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, March 30, 2007.
Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 31st, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
