Beatrice Lydia (Lindsey) Hudson, age 101, of Prairie Village, Kansas, formerly of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on April 12, 2008. Born September 9, 1906, in Lima, Ohio, Bea was the second child of Albert G. and Annie E. Lindsey. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Nowata, Oklahoma, where Bea completed high school before moving at age 18 to begin her adult life in Tulsa. There, she became the first woman employee of the Oklahoma Tire and Supply Co., rising to Office Manager, and later served in the same capacity at The McKissick Products, Corp. In 2000, she moved to the Kansas City area to be closer to family. Bea was a fiercely independent and endlessly energetic woman, generous of her time with family, friends, and her Circle at Boston Avenue Methodist Church. Known to all as "Aunt Bea", she was a gregarious, fun-loving lady who enjoyed dancing, playing cards, gardening, family activities, and helping others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Upton, of 56 years, and her four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her son J. Upton, Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; daughter Marcia Hudson Deeter and husband Kirby of Leawood, Kan.; beloved grandchildren Hope Hudson-Pollack, Kristin Deeter Steel, Lydia Hudson Skardon, Hudson Deeter, and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, at Stanley's Funeral Service, 3959 E. 31st St., Tulsa, OK 74135. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. preceding the ceremony. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Choir Fund, Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, 1301 S. Boston Ave., Tulsa, OK 74119.
