Barbara Jane Matthy, 59, Olathe, KS, formerly of Syracuse, NY, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, MO. Barbara was born April 27, 1948 in Rockville Centre, NY. Memorial services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Private inurnment will follow at Corinth Cemetery, Prairie Village, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114-9800.
Barbara received an undergraduate and graduate degree from Syracuse University. She was a Registered Dietitian in the Syracuse area for many years. She loved the green fields and wildflowers of upstate New York, birds and dachshunds, especially Norma Jean and Susie. She is survived by her sisters, Elise Jewell and her husband David, Overland Park, KS; Anne Matthy, Prairie Village, KS; niece and nephews, Deborah Duckworth and her husband Mark, David Jewell and Douglas Jewell and his wife Vanessa.
