Annabel Frances Arenson

Annabel Francis Arenson, 83, of Mission Woods and Spring Hill Township Kansas died September 27, 2007 peacefully at home due to complications from a stroke. She was born to Viola and Thomas Gardner on May 26, 1924 in Bartlesville, OK. Annabel was a graduate of Westport High School. She attended the University of Missouri at Columbia and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She received a Degree of Bachelors in Business and Public Administration. She worked in several industries around the country during WWII while her husband, Herbert, served over seas in the Navy. Following the war they developed several companies in the plastics field. Annabel volunteered as a Docent at the Kansas City Zoo through the Young Matrons of Johnson County. She was a proud Democratic Party representative, working elections at the Mission Woods, Kansas polls. She chaired rules committees for a number of golf organizations in Kansas and Missouri. She was founding member of Brookridge Golf and Country Club; a past member of Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA, and unbeknownst to Annabel for several years an indirect founder of Wolf Creek Golf Links. Annabel was preceded in death by her husband, Herb, parents Viola and Thomas, brothers Leroy and David Gardner. She is survived by son Thomas E. and wife Nancy of Houston, TX, daughter Annabel A. (Toni) of the home and Overland Park, Grandchildren Jennifer and husband Clement Noll III, Matthew and wife Melissa Arenson, Sam Arenson and Erika Michael, great granddaughter Danielle Foster. She is also survived by her sister Laura (Mrs. Don) Dutcher of San Jose, CA, sister-in-law Donna and husband Edgar Orchard of Louisiana, MO and Erma Arenson of Honolulu, HI and Mary Atwell and husband Elvie of Overland Park, brothers-in-law Richard Arenson of Louisiana, MO and Will Rogers of Kansas City, MO. and many nieces and nephews. When golf became too strenuous Annabel stayed connected to her friends at the Club by playing Gin with Edie, Grace, B.J., Bev, Helen, Lucy, Mariam and especially Sue Krizman. The family would like to thank Dr. Hugh McCaughey and staff Peggy, Mary Jo, Michelle, and Julie. The last church Annabel attended was First Christian Church of Olathe.
