Anna Marie Stuckey, 89, passed at home with family by her side on October 1, 2010. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 5th from 6-8:00 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Funeral service will be held Wednesday October 6th, at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 4805 West 67th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208 with burial following at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
Anna was born May 13, 1921 in Tescott, KS to Lawrence and Mary Nelson. She moved to the Lawrence area in the early 1940’s and graduated from the University of Kansas Nursing school in 1948. Anna worked at K.U. Medical Center in pediatrics and neonatal intensive care until retirement in 1986. After retirement she was involved in women’s church circles at Faith Lutheran Church, also in making pillow quilts, and helping nonprofit organizations.
Survivors include her son Dana Stuckey(Nancy), daughter Debbie Hilt(J.R.); 4 grandchildren Becky and Justin Peck, Tom Stuckey, Matthew and Judy Hilt, Tim and Rea Stuckey; 6 ½ great-grandchildren two sisters, Ada Yokley of Nevada, MO and Thyra Jolliff of Sunlakes, AZ; two sisters-in-law Bobbie Stuckey of Kansas City, MO and Inez Laird of Basehor, KS, and countless individuals she cared for during her tenure working in the intensive care unit.
