Alice Watts, age 81, went to heaven on September 13, 2009. Alice was born February 13, 1928 in Rosedale, KS and attended Rosedale High School. She was married to Sidney G. Watts on September 29, 1950. They were to celebrate 59 years of marriage this month.
Alice worked as a hairstylist for many years and retired in 1990 from Deluxe Check Printers. A long time Shawnee, KS resident, she enjoyed going out for breakfast with her friends and family. Her passion in life was quilting. Alice created her own designs and crafted beautiful hand sewn quilts that she shared with others. She enjoyed dancing, reading, jigsaw puzzles, gardening and bird watching. An avid sports enthusiast- she loved watching the K.C. Royals and attending her grandchildrens ballgames. Most of all she loved her family and was greatly loved in return.
Survived by her husband Sidney G. Watts of Shawnee, KS; sister Loraine (Jim) Swinehart of Hudson, Fl; two daughters Loretta (Howard) Burdiss of Cleveland, MO, and Sandy (Bob) England of Hutchinson, KS. Three grandchildren Mike (Paula) Edrington, Olathe, Ks, Tracie (Sam) Drake, Tonganoxie, Ks, Kristi (Darin) Cook, Ottawa, Ks, 6 great grandchildren, Tiffine, James, Andrew, Jonah, Zane, Kaitin and many beloved nieces and nephews and friends. Alice was preceded in death by her parents William and Bertha Lee and sisters Martha Sallee and Marguerite (Don) Cliborn.
