Agnes Gatzoulis, loving wife, mother and Yia Yia (Greek grandmother) passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family on May 25, 2010, at the age of 88. She was a loving, funny, caring family person who lived to spend time with her family. A visitation will be held for Aggie from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at D.W. Newcomers Funeral Home, 8201 Metcalf, with the Trisagion service at 7 p.m. The St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church, 8100 W. 95th St., will conduct the funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday, with burial immediately following in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Aggie was born in Independence, Mo., and grew up in St. Louis. She married Paul (Doc) Gatzoulis in 1945 and moved to the Kansas City area. Doc and Aggie raised their five children in Prairie Village, and she lived the last 55 years of her life in the home that saw all of their children grow up. A big sports lover, she kept her passion for the St. Louis Cardinals throughout her life, and she loved Kansas State Wildcat Athletics. Aggie was preceded in death by her son, Billy Dan Gatzoulis, her parents, George and Olympia Dimpapas and a sister, Toni Trittler. She leaves her husband, Paul Gatzoulis, of the home and four children who reside in Johnson County, Kan. Surviving children are Barbara Lawson with husband Jerry, Paula Erwine with husband Stan, George Gatzoulis and Denise Stitt. She leaves six granddaughters, Jennifer O'Neill, Jaclyn O'Neill, Taylor Erwine, Jordan Erwine, Lauren Stitt and Hunter Stitt. Also surviving is her sister, Bess Glastris, of St. Louis.
