Ada Lou York Cook, age 88, loving Mother and Grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2008. Born in Waxahachie, Texas on June 15, 1919 to Robert H. and Margaret May Daniels York. Ada Lou was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles Willard Cook, a well-known attorney who practiced law in Kansas and Missouri. Ada Lou had her home in Leawood, Kansas for 57 years. Ada Lou was very active volunteering at school activities, local events and raising her two sons during their years in Leawood. She was a member of the Country Club Christian Church of Kansas City and a member of the PEO, Chapter F in Missouri since 1959.
Ada Lou and Charles spent over 22 years enjoying their home on the Lake of the Ozarks. This is where they loved spending time with their family, great neighbors and friends over the years.
She lived at Garden Villa Retirement Center for the past 3? years, where she enjoyed special relationships with residents and staff. She took part in the many activities offered and gained many friendships.
She is survived by two sons, Robert W. Cook of Dallas, Texas and Charles M. Cook of Bucyrus, Kansas, daughters-in-law Carol and Kimberly Cook and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6 to 8PM, at the chapel. Burial in Corinth Cemetery, Prairie Village, KS. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Talking Books for the Seeing Impaired of Topeka.
